27th Annual Brookline Breeze 5K.

The 27th running of the Brookline Breeze was held on August 9, 2008. On a bright sunny day, over 500 runners and walkers from the Pittsburgh Metropolitan region competed in the annual neighborhood 5k Run/Walk.

Pat McGuire was the top male finisher with a time of 15:54. The top female was four-time champion Ann Mazur, with a time of 19:09. Both runners are from the Pittsburgh area. Among Brookliners, Firefighter Ed Hurley clocked a time of 20:17.

Following the awards presentation, the 3rd Annual Brookline Breeze Community Festival was held. Rock 'n roll music filled the air as live entertainment, featuring Brookliner's Jake and Mark Zucco, kept the crowd hopping. Other attractions included a petting zoo, moonwalk, face painting, balloon artists and a climbing wall.

It was a great day for the community of Brookline and race enthusiasts everywhere. Special thanks go out to race organizer Debbie Brust, whose tireless efforts, year after year, should always be remembered. Thanks also to the many corporate and local sponsors, the volunteers, and Citiparks, whose generosity and assistance have made the Brookline Breeze one of the best neighborhood races in the City of Pittsburgh.
