Pittsburgh's Golden Triangle - 1963
The Golden Triangle in 1963. The new Fort Pitt Bridge is complete and the connecting ramps to the Fort Duquesne Bridge are in place, but wait ... the Fort Duquesne Bridge is not quite finished, and will remain so for a couple years, hence the title "The Bridge to Nowhere." Another new feature in the "new" Golden Triangle is the Civic Arena, visible beyond the downtown limits on the area refered to as the lower hill district. Several city blocks were demolished to build the new Arena and many residents were forced to vacate their property. Many of these residents found their way to the Brookline area in the mid-1950s.
