Pittsburgh's Golden Triangle - 1965
Pittsburgh's Point in 1965, nine years before completion of the Point State Park project. Much work remains to be done. The Manchester and Point Bridges, at the near point, will stand for another five years and work on the crosstown connection between the Fort Pitt and Fort Duquesne Bridges continues.
An interesting feature is the Fort Duquesne Bridge, center right in the photo. Although the bridge was completed in 1963, there are no ramps connecting it to the north shore. It remained this way until 1969, when construction of Three Rivers Stadium was underway. During this six-year period the Fort Duquesne Bridge was refered to as "The Bridge To Nowhere."
