Here is a photo from the 48th Annual Brookline Independence Day Celebration in 1961, taken from the second floor of the Park Side Grill, located at 1017 Brookline Boulevard. The parade was a yearly event in the community, with activities and evening fireworks at Moore Park. This photo shows the crowd gathering at the Brookline Veteran's Memorial. The Boulevard shows the trolley tracks and red brick surface that made up the roadway for many years.

Since the late-1960s, the Brookline community no longer sponsors an Independence Day Parade or fireworks display. The closest community fireworks can now be found at neighboring Dormont Park.
