James Gormley

Comments: Corporal Gormley was a member of the
39th Field Artillery Battalion, 3rd Infantry Division. He
was Killed in Action while fighting the enemy in South Korea
on May 24, 1951. Corporal James W. Gormley was awarded
the Silver Star for his actions at Habae Jae on April 25, 1951.
Corporal Gormley stayed behind as an artillery spotter to
help cover the withdrawal of the 7th Regiment. His selfless
actions allowed the Regiment to withdraw safely to the Imjin
River during the start of the Chinese Spring Offensive.
