The boys and girls from the Brookline
Recreation Center, under the guidance of Director Jarrod Herschk and staff
members Mark Mellix and Juwan Ledbetter, won the 2019 Citiparks Field Day
Games. This was the 4th annual contest, pitting summer campers from all of
the city recreation centers in a variety of team and individual activities,
like broad jump, football and softball throws, sprints, tug-of-war and other
games.
The Brookline kids took the vast majority
of individual awards and racked up an outstanding grand total of over 300 points
to take the team trophy. The second place team finisher was the Jefferson Recreation
Center with 115 points followed by the Ormsby Recreation Center with 105 points.
After the games the champions were treated to an afternoon of swimming at the
pool.

Jarrod Herschk (center), assigned as director
at Brookline in March 2019,
has done a fantastic job with the kids.
