This building stood in the rear of the
the home of Fred W. Doerzbacher at 1033 Bayridge Avenue. This 1905 photo shows
the first home of "The Brookline Plumber," a local business that has been in
operation in Brookline for over 100 years. Eventually the business moved to its
present location at 613 Brookline Boulevard.
Shown here are Mr. Doerzbacher and his
partner, the gentlemen plumbers in their suits and derbys, with the horse that
was used to pull their work wagon. The business has stayed in the Doerzbacher
family for over a century, passing to Al Hofmann and then to George Scheuering.

over two decades as the office of The Brookline Plumber
Fred's plumbing business was operated
from a garage in the rear of the home, then moved to a building at 968 Brookline
Boulevard. Around 1932 the business went into bankruptcy and was eventually
moved to a new home at 627 Brookline Boulevard. Later it was relocated to its
present location along the boulevard.

When Fred passed in February 1944,
his son Fred Jr. took over the business and it has stayed in the Doerzbacher
family for over a century, passing to Al Hofmann and then to George Scheuering.

110 years is still in operation today.
