Berkshire Avenue - 1924
Berkshire Avenue looking from Castlegate Avenue southeast towards Queensboro Avenue.

This is Berkshire Avenue in 1924, from Castlegate Avenue looking towards the southeast. Residential development was booming and new homes were being built all along this neighborhood artery. The street was paved in red brick from Pioneer Avenue to Queensboro. A new 36 inch relief sewer had just been laid to support development southeast of Queensboro Avenue. The street-paving would soon be completed with brick extending from Queensboro to Freedom Avenue. Thes photos show Berkshire Avenue from Castlegate Avenue southeast to Freedom Avenue, and showcases many of the homes in place at the time.
