Pittsburgh Parks 100th
Anniversary
Brookline Park - 1989
In the Summer of 1989, the Brookline Recreation Center held a small celebration of the 100th Anniversary of the Parks Bureau. Some of the city centers brought their kids for a day of fun and games, starting with a short parade around the Brookline Park. The Pittsburgh Bureau of Parks and the Pittsburgh Bureau of Recreation were both, at one time, a part of the Department of Public Works. In the late-1940s, legislation was passed that merged the two bureaus into the Department of Parks and Recreation. Click on images for larger pictures. * Photos provided by Tommy Zucco * |
