Resurrection School Girl's Basketball - 1952

The 1951/1952 Resurrection girl's basketball team finished their season as champions of the Pittsburgh Catholic Girl's Basketball League. The photo above appeared in the March 13, 1952 Brookline Journal before the title game against St. Marys at the Ormsby Recreation Center.

The Resurrection Athletic Association had been formed in 1951 and this was the first year that Resurrection boys and girls competed in organized sports. The Ressi boys finished in second place during this initial season of competition. The girls did one better, finishing as the 1952 champions.

This was the first in a string of five consecutive Catholic Girl's Basketball League titles for Resurrection's talented female cagers.
