Pittsburgh's Golden Triangle - 1947
An aerial view of Pittsburgh in 1947, during the first years of air control legislation. The contours of the smokey city have come into clear view as the city emerges from the blanket of industrial smog that once cloaked it's beauty. The facade of the buildings still carry a dark coat of soot from years of exposure to the acrid atmosphere. Soon the city would enter the largest urban renewal phase in Pittsburgh history. The Renaissance I building initiative will completely transform the look of Pittsburgh's urban landscape.
