Aerial View of downtown Pittsburgh on in 1948. The country has recently emerged victorious from the struggle of World War II and prosperity is on the rise. The city is beginning to transform itself into the city we know today, but that will be a slow process. There is already some new work done on the city side of the Allegheny riverfront and some of the clutter around the Point is gone. The Wabash Bridge is being dismantled as a precursor to the renovation of the Monongahela riverfront.
