Pittsburgh's Golden Triangle - 1974

The Golden Triangle
 1974

Work was completed on the Point State Park fountain in August of 1974. Dedicated on August 30, 1974, the fountain was the final piece of the puzzle, began back in 1930 as an idea for the rebirth of a city. The photo below shows the dedication ceremony, with Three Rivers Stadium in the background. The fall of 1974 was also a good time for the rebirth of another integral part of the Pittsburgh legacy, the Pittsburgh Steelers. The hometown team, started by Art Rooney back in 1933, won their first of four Super Bowls during the decade of the 1970s less than five months after the fountain's dedication.
