At the Brookline Library, there
is a set of framed photos that show Brookline Boulevard, in 1985, from
Queensboro Avenue to Pioneer Avenue. The pictures were taken by Michael
Haritan. They are a snapshot in time, almost thirty years ago, that
show the many bygone storefronts and businesses that once populated
Brookline's commercial district.
Below is the sequence of photos.
The opportunity to unframe them and scan them individually did not
exist. Instead, photos were taken, and because of this it is not
possible to capture the true clarity of the images. However, these
pictures still present an interesting look back into the not-so-distant
past.
At the bottom of the page is a
panorama of all of the photos, created by Doug Brendel. Not sure quite
how he managed to do it, but it is an excellent rendering.
