An unexpected caller almost came through the front door of the home of James J. McGaffin Jr. at 1003 Brookline Boulevard on the afternoon of April 20, 1962. The car was parked on Brookline Boulevard and was hit and pushed toward the McGaffin home by a car traveling toward the main business section. The driver of the car in motion swerved into the parked car when he turned his steering wheel when reaching down to the floor to pick up an object that had fallen from the front seat. The car that ended up on the front lawn of the McGaffin residence was owned by Gustave Stueber, an engineer with offices in the Professional Building on Brookline Boulevard.
