Punt, Pass and Kick - 1969
Each year the NFL sponsors the Punt, Pass and Kick competition. Kids from around the nation compete in their respective cities. Winners of the regional competitions got to show their stuff at an NFL game. Here in Brookline, Punt, Pass and Kick local preliminary competitions wer held at Moore Park each fall under the watchful eye of Recreation Director Chuck Senft. Many Brookline kids came to Moore park each new season to try their luck and maybe earn a chance to compete on national TV representing the hometown Pittsburgh Steelers. These photos show participants trying a punt and pass in the fall of 1969. After the competitions ended, parents and participants eagerly gathered around the scorers table to here the results. Local winners would proceed to the city finals, then on to regional competitions. After moving to Brookline Park, Director Chuck Senft continued to hol Punt, Pass and Kick Competitions throughout the 1970s and 1980s.
