Birtley Avenue - c1940
Looking uphill along an improved Birtley Avenue from Metz Way. To the right is a water fountain
that stood outside the fencing that surrounded the Brookline Tennis Club's two clay courts.
The club won the South Hills team championship in 1935. It was disbanded in 1939,
and the tennis courts removed in the early-1940s. In their place are, today,
homes at 2300 and 2304 Birtley Avenue, both built in the mid-1940s.
