Brookside Ave and West
Liberty Ave - 1915
Then and Now
The intersection of West Liberty Avenue and Brookside Avenue taken in 1915. The trolley is making its way up from where the busway ramp now stands, near Matthew's Bronze. Today, this is a four lane road with a fifth bus lane heading down this final stretch before reaching Pioneer Avenue around the bend to the left. Here is a photo from near the same location, slightly north of Brookside Avenue in 1904, before double-track trolley lines were laid a year later. In 1910, new sewer pipes were being installed along the roadway to help with the continuous flow of water from Plummer's Run Creek. Things have changed quite considerably over the past century. |
