Long-time Brookline Area Community Council member and Past-President Elva McGibbeny with her husband, former Post-Gazette sportswriter Dan McGibbeny, in 1986. Elva and Dan moved to Brookline in 1951.

Elva was instrumental in the efforts to develop the land that is now Brookline Memorial Park, while Dan covered local Little League baseball for the Brookline Journal under the moniker "Mas Neyrb". Dan passed away in 1990 and Elva passed in 2009, aged ninety years. The Senior League ball field at Brookline Memorial Park is named for their son Danny, who passed away in September 1977.

Elva and Dan's daughter Patricia, my mother, still makes her home in Brookline. It is in their lasting memory that this Brookline Connection website has been constructed. It is my effort to carry on a family tradition of giving to the community of Brookline.
