The Resurcayo Club
The Resurcayo Club (Resurrection Catholic Youth Organization) was established in the summer of 1953, under the direction of Father Joseph P. Newell. Its purpose was to promote the spiritual and social interests of Resurrection's young parishioners beyond high school age. The group met twice a month and a special event was held on every fourth Wednesday. Activities include bowling, dancing, skating parties, swimming, softball, picnics, square dances and variety shows. In 1955, there were 85 members enrolled. The photo above shows officers Rosemary Weet (secretary), Rita Grattan (secretary), Father Newell (director), Henry Zentgraf (president) and Patricia Mathias (vice-president). The club treasurer was Al Hamel. The photos below show members of the Resurcayo Club having some fun bowling. The final photo shows group members at one of the monthly meetings.
