This 1929 photo shows the Independance Day Parade on Brookline Boulevard. The students, from Brookline School, are waving their flags with patriotic fervor.

Note the gentleman in the white ballcap. This is Professor Joseph F. Moore, long-time principal at Brookline School and the Chairman of the Brookline Savings and Trust. Professor Moore was a pillar in the Brookline community, a man who may have done more for the community than any individual before or since. His efforts to bring quality academic and recreational facilities to Brookline were responsible for such community assets as Brookline Elementary School and Moore Park.
