Castle Tavern Claims Unchallenged Senior Title

The Castle won the Senior League Championship by defeating DeBor Funeral Home in the last game of the season, 11-8. Matt Mazzie was the winning pitcher with 4 strikeouts. Shawn "Pie" Trainor was the losing pitcher.

Managed by George Kinzel and coached by Don Graham, The Castle claimed the 1978 Senior championship by taking first place in both halves, eliminating the need for a post-season championship series. In their first season since changing sponsorship from Denmark's Cafe, The Castle team reclaimed the title they had last held in 1970, when Denmark's Amazin' Milts, led by Ron Baumiller, Dom Parker and Johnny Molinda ruled the Senior circuit.

Congratulations to the entire Castle team!
