The tavern team won by margins of 7-2 and 12-1 while dropping the middle contest, 2-1. Pat Manning was the winning pitcher in both Castle victories. Jim Halton and Chuck McCormick sparked Castle Tavern to the 12-1 triumph by producing three hits apiece. Jim finished with a 3-for-4 effort while Chuck would up 3-for-5. Chris Jones and Mike Brink contributed two hits apiece. Other offensive support was provided by Jim Walsh, Pat Manning, Dennis Cerilli and Don Davin. In the opener, McCormick, Manning, Halton and Jones all had two hits. Walsh, Larry Zacharis and Tom Moses stroked one apiece. Manning fanned nine Lion's batters in the 7-2 verdict. Leading the Lions squad to the close victory in the second game were F. Wertz, who was the winning pitcher, J. Bolla, M. May, T. Butler and E. Stewart. Walsh sustained the loss despite ringing up seven strikeouts. |
