The Knights prepare for the long-anticipated duel
with the Southside Sabres for the SSYFL Championship.
NOTES: Coach Donnie and his undefeated Brookline Knights came
to Montour High School to square off with the Southside Sabres
in what was billed as the war to end all wars. With the SSYFL
championship at stake, the two teams collided head-on in a
fierce struggle for the right to claim the title. When the
dust cleared on the field of battle, the Knights proclaimed
themselves champions by virtue of an impressive 18-8 victory.

Although the eventual outcome never really seemed in doubt,
Southside put up a good fight. The underdog Sabres held their
own for three and a half quarters, clinging desperately to a
glimmer of hope and praying for a miracle. Brookline's third
touchdown with five minutes remaining in the game ended any
thought of divine intervention. The Sabres became the eleventh
and final victim on the mighty Knights path to glory.
Let's Go Brookline Knights!
Brookline rode the legs of their trusty horse Michael Ignasky,
who rushed 28 times for 115 yards. While Ignasky acted as the
battering ram, quarterback Jerrad Tuite kept the Sabre defense
off balance by completing 9-of-15 passes for 128 yards. Tuite
executed the ball control game plan perfectly. The Knights had
greater than a two-to-one advantage in time of possession.
Brookline's offensive line, who so often go unnoticed as they
battle it out in no-man's land, played an outstanding game.
Michael Ignasky powered the Knights offensive
attack all season long. In the championship game
Ignasky gained 115 yards on 28 carries and added
another thirty-three yards on three receptions.
Defensively, the Knights smothered the Sabre attack. Midway
through the third quarter, Southside had gained only thirty
total yards. The Sabres eighty yard breakaway scoring run
added some drama, but was basically just a minor glitch in
what was a dominant performance by the Knight defenders.

In a game filled with memorable moments, one seemed to stand
out. It was the ice-breaker, the play that got things rolling.
Nearing the end of the first half and faced with a fourth and
goal from the twenty-four yard line, Tuite launched a bomb
towards the endzone. Adam Ottaviano out-leaped two Southside
defenders and made a fantastic touchdown reception. It was the
muzzle that quieted the Southside bleachers and set the tone
for the remainder of the game. Brookline would not be denied.
Life is Good. Victory is Divine.
All Hail the Knights of Brookline!
Congratulations to the players, coaches, fans and friends who
have traveled this long road together since those early days
of August. It has been quite an enjoyable ride. It's sad to
see it come to an end, but it sure feels good to be a part of
the best! It's been a pleasure watching such a talented group
of kids play football. The memories will last a lifetime.
