Raymond A. "Pat" Pisiecki was born on July 26, 1914, the son of Antonio and Martha Pisiecki. He married Goldie Mezak on October 26, 1937 and the newlyweds moved into a home at 2156 Wolford Avenue. Raymond was twenty-seven years old when the United States entered World War II. A month before his twenty-ninth birthday, on June 14, 1943, he enlisted in the U.S. Army applied for assignment to the Coastal Artillery Corps.

At the beginning of the war the Coastal Artillery Corps was responsible for manning Coastal gun emplacements around the country and in United States territories overseas. In 1943, many of these gun emplacements were abandoned and the Coastal Artillery Corps members were consolidated into numerous independant Anti-Aircraft Battalions and deployed overseas to serve in the front lines.

Cpl. Raymond A. Pisiecki and his Anti-Aircraft Battalion landed in France on August 2, 1944 and joined in the Allied push east towards the German border. In January of 1945, Tech 5 Corporal "Pat" Pisiecki found himself in Belgium during the Battle of the Bulge. It was here that he was killed in action on January 3, 1945.

Raymond's wife Goldie received word of his death at the end of April and a short notice was published in the Pittsburgh Press in March 3. While the community of Brookline mourned another fallen soul, Goldie placed a Gold Star on the window of her home and pondered a future without her husband Ray.

The body of Brookline's Raymond A Pisiecki was brought back home to the United States and interred at the Gettysburg National Cemetery and Memorial in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, along with another fallen Brookline serviceman, James D. Simpson. Ray's wife Goldie eventually went on to remarry and have two children. She passed away February 17, 1990.

“It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died.
Rather, we should thank God that such men lived.”
