The Mighty Knights prepare for the
final battle of the 2010 season.
It's Winner-Take-All this time.
NOTES: The Mighty Knights of Brookline came to West Allegheny
High School Stadium with one purpose, and one purpose only.
This was the day that Coach Donnie and his battle-hardened
warriors would stake their claim as the most prolific winners
in the Knight's thirty-seven year history. Today, the Bethel
Hawks were their prey, and nothing would stand in their way.

With the Super Bowl title on the line, the defending champion
Knights slaughtered the Hawks, 34-0. Brookline dominated from
beginning to end. The shutout was a fitting conclusion to a
remarkable season. Furthermore, it was proof that this team,
cultured and conditioned to perfection over the years by Coach
Don and his staff, truly is a one-of-a-kind Brookline Dynasty.
Connor and the rest of the Knights were stoked and
ready to stake claim to their righteous destiny.
The game started ominously for the Hawks. Tyion Powe took the
opening kickoff, burst through the pack, and returned the ball
sixty-eight yards for a touchdown. Three minutes later, Khalil
Sanders put Brookline up 16-0 with a thirty-five yard scoring
run. Before the half ended, Sanders crossed the plane a second
time with a fifty-six yard dash. At halftime, the Knights were
ahead by a score of 22-0.

The thrashing of the Hawks continued in the second half. The
Knights steamrolled to their fourth touchdown, a three yard
thrust by Connor McGinnis. Donnie West added the coup de grace
three minutes into the fourth quarter with a twenty-five yard
burst to the goal line. While the offense powered along, the
defense throttled the Bethel attack with a ferocious display
of hard-hitting, bone-bruising subjugation. The Hawks were
simply overwhelmed by the Mighty Knight's destructive force.
The Knight defense shut down the Bethel Hawks,
holding them to under 100 yards for the game
while registering their ninth shutout.
Offensively, the Knights amassed 290 yards. Brookline ran the
ball thirty-six times for 400. Sanders gained 148 on thirteen
carries and McGinnis churned out sixty-one on twelve touches.
Donnie West (4-38), Joey Kalsek (3-22), Tyion Powe (2-3) and
Edgard Fumbula (2-1) added to the ground assault. McGinnis was
two-of-seven passing for seventeen more. Adam Ottaviano (1-11)
and West (1-6) were his targets. A pick and a late-game sack
were the only blemishes on an otherwise sparkling performance.
Powe's opening six-pointer was his fourth kick return for a
	touchdown this season.

Defensively, Brookline held Bethel to thirty-one yards rushing
on twenty carries. The Hawks were four-of-eleven passing for
sixty-five yards. Sacks by Richie Ryan, Joey Kalsek, McGinnis
and Sanders set the Hawks back thirty-five yards. The entire
line played an outstanding game. The Bethel quarterback was
under constant pressure and Hawk runners were punished every
time they touched the ball. It was Gridiron Gangsterism at its
most dangerous. The harried Hawks never really stood a chance.
The Knights walk the line for the final time. Since
2004, these battle-hardened Knights have been
victorious in 67 of 75 engagements and five times
they have been crowned league champions.
For the team's many Seniors, this was the last time they would
suit up in the Green and Black of the Brookline Knights. Some
have been with the team since the ages of seven or eight. It
will be difficult to see them go. Connor McGinnis, Gino Foster,
Joe Tongel, Khalil Sanders, Brendon Cunningham, Martino Stein,
Garrett Martin, Michael Roper, Joey Kalsek and Julius Noel have
all been part of four SSYFL Super Bowl celebrations.

Connor, Gino, Joe, Martino, Garrett and Joey are proud owners
of a fifth title from their WPSYFL Twerp days in 2004. As for
Coach Donnie, he now has six championships with the Knights
program. A handful of those came as a Head Coach. That's more
fun for the record books. Speaking of records. The seven-year
won-lost record for the Mighty Knights is sixty-seven wins
and eight losses, a .893 winning percentage. That's a fact.
	2004 (9-1); 2005 (4-4); 2006 (12-0); 2007 (11-1); 2008 (9-2);
	2009 (11-0); 2010 (11-0). Title Seasons: 2004-06-07-09-10.
The Mighty Knights cement their place in the
history of Brookline football. With their fifth
championship in seven seasons, this team has won
more often than any other to wear green and black.
The Era of Coach Donnie and his Brookline Knights
is the story of a Pittsburgh gridiron dynasty.
Congratulations to all of the players, coaches, parents and
fans that make up the 2010 SSYFL Champion Brookline Knights.
It has been a pleasure being a part of something so special.
The memories will last a lifetime. Thanks for the ride. Hope
to see you all at the Banquet in December. Sincerely, Clint.

Coach Joe Nicholas, who is also SSYFL President,
presents Coach Donnie and the Mighty Knights of
Brookline with the 2010 SSYFL Super Bowl trophy.

                           A Message From Coach Don

To all the Brookline fans and players:

What a ride it's been for the last seven years, one of the
greatest if not the greatest in any organization. Four
championships in five years in the SSYFL and five out of seven
all together. This is hands down the greatest group of kids
and the toughest to ever wear the Black and Green. They showed
what hard work and dedication, and puttin' up with me, was all
	about.

A Head Coach is only as good as the people and the players he
surrounds himself with, and believe me, I had the best. From
my coaching staff to my players it was a recipe that couldn't
lose. We were the best year in and year out. The stats show it
	and so do the championships.

I would like to thank the Nicholas family for always being
there for me and our team. I hope as the kids get older and go
their separate ways that they can reflect on the years that we
all had together and it could help them to make good decisions
in life and always remember no one can take this away. If I
could bottle up the last seven years I've had as a coach and
sell it, I would be a billionaire. This was hands down the
best seven years of my athletic life.

I'm writing this to say how thankful and humbled I am. Thank
you to all my coaches and players, the cheerleaders and the
Brookline faithful. I will never forget this and I love you
guys. I hope to watch you play in high school in the next few
 	years and always remember ...

                               "Knights Forever"

Thank you from the bottom of my heart,
	                           Coach Don
